The Tasmanian State Government updated the COVID-19 Outbreak Management process in preparation of the reopening of state borders on the 15th of December, 2021. To minimize the disruption to your business and to ensure the safety of people it is critical that COVID-19 Safety Plans are updated to reflect the following information in preparation of inevitable COVID-19 outbreaks.
Preparation for outbreaks include the review of COVID-19 Safety Plans, encouragement of staff vaccination, adequate supply of face masks and cleaning supplies, manual and electronic check in systems to assist contract tracing, the delegation of an outbreak response coordinator to liaise with Public Health, and the consideration of a business response plan, such as employees working from home.
If a confirmed case of COVID-19 is associated with your workplace, Public Health will notify and assist you to determine and implement necessary measures required of your business. Additionally, if a confirmed case is an employee of your business, then you may be required by law to notify WorkSafe Tasmania.
In the event of a known case or outbreak, Public Health may ask for:
- The review or activation of your business COVID-19 Safety Plan;
- Increased and compulsory workplace hygiene procedures;
- The provision of additional data collection for contact tracing such as rosters and timesheets;
- The implementation of home quarantine for staff identified as associates of known cases; and/or
- The liaising and correspondence with Public Health to advise of accurate home quarantine process and of appropriate internal and external communications to announce known cases or outbreaks.
