12 Years of Assurance HR – From Tasmania to Supporting Businesses Across Australia

20 August 2026 marks 12 years since Assurance HR Management (AHR) began.

Back in 2014, AHR started with one person, an idea and a simple goal: to provide businesses with practical, straightforward support when dealing with workplace problems.

There was no large team or extensive network behind the business. It started with me, working directly with clients across Tasmania, building AHR one relationship and one workplace problem at a time.

In those early days, our focus was entirely on servicing Tasmanian businesses.

Twelve years later, it is remarkable to look at how far we have come.

Tasmania remains our home and the majority of our clients are still proudly Tasmanian businesses. However, as AHR’s reputation, services and network have grown, so has our reach.

Today, AHR has clients in most states across Australia.

From our Tasmanian beginnings, we now support businesses dealing with workplace matters across multiple Australian jurisdictions, while maintaining the practical, personal approach that AHR was built on.

Today, AHR has grown into a team supported by a broader network of consultants, advisors and specialists, bringing together experience across human resources, industrial relations, workplace health and safety and the many other challenges that employers face when managing people and workplaces.

But while AHR has grown considerably, one thing hasn’t changed:

We are still here to solve workplace problems.

From a Small Tasmanian Beginning in 2014

Like most small businesses, AHR wasn’t built overnight.

It has been built over 12 years through hard work, long days, challenges, mistakes, lessons, opportunities and, most importantly, relationships.

What started as a business servicing clients solely in Tasmania has steadily expanded.

While Tasmania continues to be the heart of AHR and home to the majority of our clients, technology and the changing way businesses access professional advice have allowed us to extend our support well beyond the state.

Today, we have clients in most states of Australia.

Regardless of whether a client is around the corner in Tasmania or thousands of kilometres away interstate, our philosophy remains the same: understand the problem, provide practical advice and help the client find a way forward.

Over the past 12 years, we have worked with businesses facing everything from everyday HR questions through to complex workplace matters where the decisions being made can have significant consequences for the employer, the worker and the workplace.

Along the way, our services have continued to evolve in response to what businesses actually need.

Today, AHR assists businesses across areas including:

  • Human resources and workplace documentation
  • Award interpretation and employment conditions
  • Employment agreements and
  • Performance management and disciplinary matters
  • Terminations and redundancies
  • Workplace investigations
  • Industrial relations and Fair Work matters
  • Workplace health and safety
  • Workers compensation claim management
  • Workplace training
  • Emergency management and workplace compliance

For our clients, that means they don’t need to work out which direction to turn when a workplace problem arises.

They can simply call AHR.

More Than Just a HR Consultancy

One of the things we have learned over the past 12 years is that workplace problems rarely fit neatly into one category.

What initially looks like a HR issue may involve industrial relations.

A performance issue might also involve workers compensation.

A workplace complaint may develop into a formal workplace investigation.

A safety concern may expose broader problems with policies, procedures, training or management practices.

That is why AHR has continued to build a network of people with different areas of knowledge and experience.

Our core team is now supported by consultants, advisors and specialists who can assist us in providing practical solutions to the increasingly complex workplace issues our clients encounter.

It means the AHR of today looks very different from the business that began in Tasmania in 2014.

And that’s something we’re incredibly proud of.

Tasmania Is Home – But Our Clients Are Across Australia

We are proud to be a Tasmanian business.

Tasmania is where AHR started, where our roots remain and where the majority of the businesses we support are located.

But we’re equally proud that businesses outside Tasmania have chosen to put their trust in AHR.

Having clients across most Australian states is an important part of our growth story. It demonstrates that the need for practical, accessible workplace advice isn’t limited by geography.

Many HR and industrial relations matters can now be managed remotely, allowing our team to provide advice, prepare documentation, assist with meetings and workplace processes, conduct investigations and support employers regardless of where their business is located.

Our growth outside Tasmania hasn’t changed the way we want to work with clients.

We still believe in building relationships.

We still want to understand the business behind the workplace problem.

And we still believe clients should be able to pick up the phone and speak with someone who understands what they’re dealing with.

Built Around Small and Medium Businesses

AHR has always understood the realities of running a small or medium business.

Business owners and managers often don’t have an internal HR department, industrial relations specialist or WHS team sitting down the hallway.

Yet they are expected to comply with increasingly complex workplace laws and regulations while also managing workers, customers, cash flow and the everyday pressures of running a business.

When something goes wrong, they often need an answer quickly.

They don’t necessarily want a 30-page explanation of the problem.

They want to know:

What do we need to do?

What are our options?

What are the risks?

And how do we fix it?

That practical approach has been at the centre of AHR since the beginning.

The People Behind AHR

While reaching 12 years is an important milestone, AHR isn’t simply the story of one person or one business.

It is the result of many people.

To our current team, consultants, advisors and specialists: thank you.

Whether you’ve been part of AHR for years or joined us more recently, you’ve contributed to what the business has become and to the reputation we continue to build.

To the accountants, bookkeepers, business advisors and other professionals who have referred their clients to us and trusted AHR to look after them: thank you for that trust.

And, of course, to our clients — in Tasmania and across Australia, past and present — thank you for choosing AHR.

Some businesses have called us with a relatively simple question.

Others have contacted us during one of the most difficult workplace situations they have faced.

Being trusted to step in, provide advice and help find a way forward is something we don’t take for granted.

12 Years Down – And We’re Not Finished Yet

The workplace has changed enormously since 2014.

Employment laws have changed.

Awards have changed.

Technology has changed.

The way people work has changed.

And the expectations placed on employers continue to grow.

AHR has changed with it.

We started with one person, servicing businesses in Tasmania.

Today, we have a core team, a growing network of consultants, advisors and specialists, and clients across most states of Australia.

That’s a journey we’re immensely proud of.

As we move into our next chapter, our focus is on continuing to expand our capabilities, strengthen our network and make it easier for businesses — in Tasmania and across Australia — to access the workplace support they need.

There is still plenty we want to accomplish.

But today is also an opportunity to recognise what has already been achieved.

From one person and a Tasmanian client base in 2014 to a team and professional network supporting businesses across Australia — 12 years is a milestone worth celebrating.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of the AHR journey so far.

Here’s to the next chapter.
